How To

How to hunt wild hogs

Large animals, wild hogs can be found across North America, Africa and Asia. Wild hogs eat both vegetation and small animals, such as birds, fish, mice, rabbits and mice. They feed mostly at night. The gestation period lasts around six months, after which one piglet is born. A sow has one child every two years. Wild hogs are solitary animals, although they sometimes live together in groups called herds.

Wild boars average a weight of 200 pounds (90kg). Their average head length is 10-12 inches (25-30cm), and their body length is 20-30 inches (50-75cm). Wild pigs are long-legged, have broad shoulders and short tails. They have a thick layer under their skin of fat.

They are extremely sensitive to the senses of sight, hearing, smell, and taste. These senses are used to find food and detect danger. They can run upto 35 miles an hour (56 km/h), and can jump up to 15 feet (4m) in a single bound. They are sharp-toothed and have sharp claws. They are strong and aggressive in defense against predators.

Hunting wild animals is challenging because they are intelligent, fast and elusive. Hunters must stalk them carefully. Hunters should not shoot too quickly. The animal might escape. If hunters are too late, the animal might die before it reaches shelter.

There are many ways to hunt wild hogs. The most common is shooting. This requires hunters to locate the animal and wait for it to arrive in range. Another method is trapping. The trapping method involves placing traps close to water sources that the hogs can drink. Many traps include a scent lure, such as corn meal and peanut butter. When the trap is sprung, the hunter shoots the trapped pig.

Another option is snaring. Snaring is a method that uses a noose of rope to catch the pork. It is most effective if the pigs are caught in its mating period.

Other options include poisoning or spearing. To stop pigs from breathing, spearing and netting involve putting a spear or net through the neck of the animal. Poisoning is done by injecting the pig with poison.

Hunters who wish to hunt wild hogs need to be prepared for the cold weather. To stay warm in some areas, hunters can wear snowshoes. Some hunters carry dogs to help them track the animals.
