Guns

Hate speech has become more deadly due to the easy availability of firearms. White supremacists are one example of those who use firearms as a way to intimidate, threaten, or attack political opponents. Armed opposition has been a hallmark of hate and paramilitary civilian groups. These violent, ideological and racist extremists will not be perceived as a threat to the public if guns are removed from these groups.

Hate

Jason Hayes, an LGBTQ member from New Jersey, organized last year a national rally against gun violence to protect LGBTQ civil rights. The rally, called DISARM HATES, attracted nine people from Los Angeles to support Jason's cause. Now, this bill is back in Congress as a companion bill to the existing Hate Crimes Prevention Act. This Act would make it illegal for those convicted of hate crimes to possess or purchase firearms.

Gun laws

The Disarm Hate Act is a federal bill that would prohibit gun buyers from purchasing guns if they are convicted of committing a hate crime. Although the Disarm Hate Act relies on existing laws in states on hate crimes, it would also ban individuals convicted of such crimes from buying guns. Background checks would be required for prospective gun buyers under the Disarm Hate Act. This requirement is already required to by the FBI.

Extreme risk laws

To stop mass shootings and gun murder, extremist risk laws were established. This type of law grants petitioners the right to ask a judge to temporarily take a gun from a potentially dangerous person. The laws have yet to be widely adopted, but some states are applying them. In some instances, these laws have prevented mass shootings and gun homicides. Below are some examples.

Pulse nightclub shooting

Disarm Hate is a documentary about nine LGBTQ activists who participated in a nationwide rally to end gun violence in Orlando and protect LGBTQ civil rights. Harvey Fierstein narrates the story of the activists who fight the NRA and fight to reform gun laws. They also challenge America’s obsession in gun violence. Here's a look at the film.

Sandy Hook Promise

Several groups, including the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Gays Against Guns, CeaseFire PA, and the Generation Progress Fund have endorsed the Sandy Hook Promise to Disarm Hate Act. This legislation was presented last year as a response to the Pulse shooting which claimed 49 victims. It was defeated in committee. Sen. Casey reintroduced it this year following the tragic anniversary Pulse. Although the Disarm Hate Act may not be enacted immediately, members of the community can make steps to advance it.

Anti-Defamation League

The Anti-Defamation League, (ADL) has a strong record of fighting hate in the world. It has been a focal point for violent incidents involving white supremacists in the past like the attack on the Chabad of Poway synagogue, Poway, California. In recent years, the organization has partnered with the U.S. in fighting anti-Semitism within the U.S. Training law enforcement officers will be provided by the Holocaust Memorial Museum. ADL also played a crucial role in the first White House Conference on Hate Crime. This event sparked enhanced community partnerships with law enforcement agencies.

You won't improve if you don't know why you are missing. That means you need to know what you're aiming for.

This is where knowledge comes in. Your ability to hunt depends on your understanding of the animal you're trying to kill. If you go out into nature, you will want to be as knowledgeable as possible about the animals you come across. You want to know their habits, their behaviors, and even their personalities.
